Joint Locks/Bone Breaks
Joint manipulation, when it comes to self-defense should not be construed with a re-emphasis on manipulative therapy or chiropractics. The martial aspect of reference is the emphasis on techniques that cause minor pain, dislocation or can even break an adjoining joint in a person's body.
This type of skill and training is accepted by law enforcement agencies to be the most effective when dealing with a passive/medium aggressive individual or at least "legally effective" from their point of view. In the police world, this kind of study is called "force continuum", having the ability to utilize leverage, without striking the subject and potentially creating a submissive amount of pain without being countered during the process.
Chad Von Dette's "Force Continuum" program is highly regarded and is used by law enforcement, school districts, security agencies and facilities working with mentally inept/violent people.
