Self-Defense for Nurses

Self-Defense for Nurses

As a nurse or medical professional, safety for your patients and for yourself are very important. Although you may be working in a field catered towards helping people, you face more risk of violence than you may be aware of. Taking a self-defense class is highly recommended. According to the Department of Labor Statistics, 46% of all violent acts in the workplace were against RNs.

The most prevalent types of violence against nurses and medical staff are:

*  Physical Violence

         Being grabbed, Hit or Spit on

* Verbal Abuse

         Being yelled at, Sworn at or Called names

Sometimes the best self-defense is simply taking a class geared towards medical professionals. Learning a handful of powerfully targeted techniques can make the difference between injury and safety.
